📢 ❗ Important Announcement: New Requirements for Minors to Obtain Romanian Citizenship

Starting September 1, 2024, following the adoption of Emergency Ordinance No. 100/2024, which amends the Romanian Citizenship Law No. 21/1991, all applicants for Romanian citizenship, whether for granting or reacquisition, are now required to provide biometric data. This includes:

Fingerprint impressions of two fingers 🖐️

🔹 Who Does This Apply To? This requirement also applies to children aged 14 and over, if parents are requesting Romanian citizenship on their behalf.

🔹 Exceptions:
Children under 14 years of age included in their parent’s application.
Individuals physically unable to provide fingerprints (in these cases, only the facial image will be collected), so their presence is mandatory.

❗ Important to Note: If minors’ biometric data are not included at the time of the parent’s application, the process cannot be completed with their documents later. Any additional documents for minors without biometric data will be returned. 🚫📄

🔹 For Parents Who Acquired Citizenship: If a parent has already obtained Romanian citizenship, they can submit a separate application for their minor children, on a separate procedure that can last up to 2 years.

Both the parent and the minor must be physically present for this process.

📅 Stay prepared and ensure all required biometric data is submitted to avoid delays.
